Dr Angela Begg

Angela graduated BVSc from University of Sydney in 1981, spent 2 years as a private mixed animal practitioner. Angela then returned to the University of Sydney and completed a Diploma in Veterinary Pathology in 1983 followed by the next two years as a Resident in Clinical Pathology at the Rural Veterinary Centre, University of Sydney where she gained experience in all aspects of diagnostic veterinary pathology with a specific emphasis on horses. Angela then spent four years as a postgraduate research student with the CSIRO, Division of Animal Health where she completed a PhD into salmonella vaccines to prevent the bacterial disease, salmonellosis.
In 1986 Angela was appointed Lecturer in Veterinary Microbiology in the Department of Veterinary Pathology at the University of Sydney where she was responsible for the teaching of Veterinary Microbiology to undergraduate veterinary science students.
From 1988 to 1990, Angela took up the appointments of lecturer in Clinical Pathology in the Department of Animal Health, University of Sydney, Camden as well the Senior Clinical Pathologist in charge of the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of the Rural Veterinary Centre, University of Sydney.
Author of over 20 scientific publications in referred journals. Has been extensively involved with the NATA Accreditation Advisory Committee for Veterinary Testing and the Australian Horse Industry Council subcommittee for Disease control.
Angela is currently the honorary secretary of the Australian Society for Veterinary Pathology (ASVP) as well as Adjunct Senior Lecturer with The University of Queensland. Angela is a registered specialist in Veterinary Pathology (general pathologist covering all areas of veterinary pathology).
