Helen completed her veterinary degree at Murdoch University, graduating in 1999.

She then worked in small animal practice for two years in Adelaide before returning to Murdoch to undertake a PhD in rickettsial species in ectoparasites.

Helen commenced her pathology training in 2006 at the University of QLD with an internship/ residency funded by QML Vetnostics. Following this, she worked as a pathologist at QML Vetnostics and in 2008 attained Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Pathology.

In 2008-2009, Helen worked as a diagnostic pathologist at Cytopath Ltd in the UK.

She returned to the University of QLD in 2009, initially as Lecturer and subsequently Senior Lecturer, and in 2018 completed a Masters degree in the development of clinical reasoning and assessment of preclinical BVSc students.

Helen joined QML Vetnostics in 2019. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and her special interests include infectious disease and wildlife pathology.
